This is a 12 VDC double-acting solenoid kit used on all medium Ideal Vacuum Super-Seal pneumatic bellows valves including 90 degree angle and inline valves. The kit includes a 1/8" to 1/4" brass NPT elbow and a 1/8" NPT male-to-female short brass extension needed to attach the solenoid (1/4" NPT) to the 1/8" female NPT air inlet of any medium sized Super-Seal valve. Also included are two straight and one elbow push-to-connect fittings with 1/8" NPT to 1/4" OD tubing for the airline connections, and two 1/8" NPT sintered brass exhaust mufflers. This solenoid requires a 12 VDC power source capable of supplying a current of 425mA.
This double-acting solenoid kit is used on these medium Super-Seal pneumatic bellows valves:
- CF 4.50", CF 4.625", and CF 6.0"
- ISO-K 63, ISO-K 80, and ISO-K 100
- Weldable Tube 2.5", 3.0", and 4.0" OD tube
Medium-sized Super-Seal valves require air to both open and to close. They do not have a spring return and therefore do not automatically close. Low volume, dry, compressed air in the range of 60-to-80 psi is needed. When energized, the solenoid directs air flow through the solenoid's manifold into the valve's bonnet, opening the valve. When the solenoid is de-energized, air flow is redirected to the top of the valve head, closing the valve. Because they do not have automatic spring closure, medium Super-Seal valves cannot provide failure protection to preserve chamber vacuum in case of loss of power or air supply.
The Super-Seal family of valves includes weldable tube, KF, ISO-K, and Conflat (CF) flange options, from 3/4" OD tube (KF-16), to 10" OD tube (ISO-K 250), and many are available in right angle (90°) and in-line versions.
Available Super-Seal valve accessories sold separately include:
- 12 VDC, 24 VDC, 110 VAC, and 220 VAC Solenoids
- Mechanical reed switch, NPN, and PNP position indicator sensors, used to provide confirmation of the valve's state (whether it is open or closed) and to switch or trigger auxiliary devices.
Super-Seal valves are a great value and are extremely reliable, making them useful for applications such as semiconductor manufacturing, plasma physics research, and nuclear accelerators. They are a primary component in vacuum process automation and have a mean time to failure rate (MTTF) of more than one million cycles.
