The Edwards XDD1 diaphragm vacuum pump has a pumping speed of 1.4 m3/hr, and an Ultimate Vaccum of <2 mbar. It can run on 100-230 VAC and has a single phase motor. The XDD1 is a compact and efficient pump, often used for backing small turbomolecular pumps in clean, high vacuum applications. It can also be used as a free standing bench top pump. A typical ultimate pressure of
better than 5x10-8 mbar can be achieved when using an XDD1 to back a 70 l/s
turbomolecular pump. XDD1 pumps are intended for use on non-aggressive,
safe area applications. The XDD1 pump is also used to backup Edwards T-Station Turbo Systems.
Under normal conditions the XDD1 is virtually maintenance free. The lifetime of
the diaphragms and valves is typically > 10,000 operating hours, depending on the
application.
Another version of this pump is the Mk3 designed to be a part of a complete pumping package including an Edwards Turbo and Instrument Controller (TIC). The D.C. voltage
motor on the Mk3 runs on 24 VDC via a 15 pin DIN connector. By selecting the appropriate mode
the pump speed can be controlled by the user to provide variable pumping speed
or max pumping speed. The Mk3 pump is compact and efficient. The Mk3 24V version
can be user set to run at a maximum speed of 1.8 m3/hr at 2400 rpm.
