Mechanical Engineers For Spectroscopy Product Development

Introduction:

Ideal Vacuum and Ideal Spectroscopy are looking for mechanical design engineers to join our team to support vacuum and optical laser device component development. Successful applicants for this position will have organizational skills, SolidWorks modeling experience, drafting skills, and an understanding of how to design products that will be manufactured. Additional experience working with laser optics, complex research assemblies, and optical ray tracing software packages, such as Zemax OpticsStudio, is desired but not mandatory. The design engineers hired for these positions will work closely with the principal investigator and other chief engineers.

Background

An active and growing field of research and development is in the VUV and XUV wavelength regions of the spectrum, 200 to 100 nm and 100 to 10 nm, respectively. Our companies, Ideal Vacuum and Ideal Spectroscopy, are excited to work together to develop products that will assist research groups who are setting up experiments to study the science and physics of atoms and molecules with optical transitions in these regions. It is a perfect area for our two companies to collaborate, as vacuum ultraviolet VUV and high-energy ultraviolet XUV radiation will not transmit through the atmosphere, it must propagate in vacuum as it is quickly absorbed by molecules in the room air. Ideal Vacuum has a well-established product line of Ideal Vacuum Cubes to which we will add additional products and accessories so customers can quickly build these types of experimental setups.
