The Leybold WAU1000 WAU-1000 Roots blower vacuum pumps are driven by an air-cooled electric motor. The Roots blower's pump shaft feeds out of the vacuum region through a shaft seal to couple to the electric drive motor's shaft. For this reason, the WAU pumps are often used in standard industrial applications that do not contain harsh chemical process gases.

The WAU pumps are easy to operate! They include a pressure differential valve that allows them to be started at the same time as the roughing pump. When pumping at high pressures near atmosphere excessive pressure will build across the blower, this will cause the differential pressure valve to open, and part of the pumped gas will cycle back to the intake flange. This allows for improved pumping speed even at high intake pressures now that the blower and backing pump can operate together over the full pumping range.

These Leybold RuVac WAU1000 WAU 1000 Roots blower booster vacuum pumps have ISO-100 inlet and exhaust flanges, have a pumping speed of 627 cfm, and have been rebuilt for standard vacuum pump oil (Ideal Vacuum Product's IVP-200 vacuum pump oil). The WAU-1000, this blower was factory oriented to operate with vertical flow. These WAU-1000 pumps can be rotated to operate in either directions.
