This cable connects to a USB 1.1 or higher port on a computer and provides a serial com port that can be configured to work with RS-485 devices. When connected to a USB 2.0 port it supports data transfer rates of up to 3 MBaud. No external power supply is needed.

This adapter can plug directly into Ideal Vacuum's Heavy Duty Heater Controller to provide programming and serial control without the use of the included breakout board. However, the breakout board can be used to regain access to the relay functionality. The breakout board may also be used with other devices that do not follow the same RS-485 DB-9 pinout convention.
